7) Who Do You Sound Like?
These are the Top 7 Interview Questions Bands Get Asked The Most (And How To Answer) according to Ari Herstand, a journalist for digitalmusicnews.com
Do you understand the questions?
How would you answer?
Can you convey the meaning and context you want, in English?
These are just 7 of the most asked questions that bands and artists are asked at interviews. Of course, these are general questions that any band or artist can be asked and do not really give you an opportunity to showcase or highlight any specific information regarding projects, tours, or news that you might want to convey. So, in an effort to make the best use of your interview time, It is helpful to have answers to these more generalized questions, in your bag of interview tricks.
But won’t that begin to sound like canned answers?
Yes, I know, as discussed in part 3: Rockin Interviews, the Canned answer is not ideal. But, that is why at English Starz, I like to encourage the use of what I call the“ Ready, Steady, Go” approach. It is a simple but excellent practice to have multiple ways of answering the most common questions. Having two, three, four or even more ways in which to answer your most asked interview questions will give you more confidence and a more genuine response when put in the interview hot seat.
See, Simple. This means you will be ready, Having a variety of ways in which to convey the same meaning. This will make you steady because you will appear less canned, and more casual, relaxed, less repetitive, and ready to go!
FUN FACT:
L’arc En Ciel ( Japan) fronted by the artist known as HYDE inspires my work at English Starz for his commitment to writing, singing, and performing in English, and for Western audiences, despite English not being his native language.
